Consumer and Small Business Banking (CSBB) provides financial services to 21 million retail bank households and three million small business customers through approximately 4,900 retail branches, 17 customer service centers, and approximately 13,000 ATMs in 36 states and the District of Columbia. We serve and help individuals and families in many aspects of their lives, helping them buy homes, open first bank and savings accounts, buy cars to get to and from work or school, and start or grow small businesses. As an industry leader in many consumer and small business areas – including retail deposits, debit card transaction and purchase volume, and small business lending – our primary goal is delivering for our customers.

The Consumer and Small Business Banking Marketing Sciences team has a unique and exciting opportunity for two Analytic Consultants to support the Consumer and Small Business Marketing Science team.  These roles are part of the broader team, which provides insights to inform our business/customer marketing strategy, measure and optimize marketing campaigns aimed at acquiring new customers and deepen relationships with existing customers.  

The CSBB Market Sciences Team provides delivery of the following solutions:

  • Campaign development support, including:  Audience size, potential reach, program performance estimation (e.g. response rates  and return estimation)
  • Campaign measurement planning across multiple channels including direct mail, e-mail, web and paid digital media
  • In flight program measurement and insight development
  • Postmortem measurement, including Return estimation and optimization recommendations
  • Program/Initiative deep dives including:  Customer profiling, segmentation, and targeting recommendations
  • Influencing testing methodology, including holdout development and complex design of experiment implementation

Support the development and deployment of marketing tactics, including developing in flight and postmortem measurement plans, including complex ROMI (Return on Marketing Investment) estimation.

Track/Monitor in flight programs on a daily/weekly basis; develop routine reviews for Marketing partner consumption
Develop insights based on in-flight program performance, optimization recommendations and postmortem reviews that inform campaign/program modifications

Support development and deployment of complicated test structures including complex incentive based designs of experiments, A/B testing, holdout population development and value-based impact analysis.

Formulate and answer strategic questions using rigorous analytics while developing a clear, simple, and compelling story to influence program managers/senior management and gain buy-in.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support deployment of marketing campaigns, including design the test and/or measurement plans
  • Develop/support in flight campaign monitoring
  • Create routine digests summarizing in flight campaign performance for consumption of marketing partners and marketing/analytic leadership
  • Manage a suite of campaign initiatives to provide analytic support including reporting, monitoring and analyzing campaign results
  • Estimate marketing return based on agreed-upon incremental impact methodologies
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to support and solve strategic Marketing problems.
  • Utilize knowledge of the business, customers, and products to synthesize results and 'form a story' and develop insights
  • Prepare and deliver thoughtful and impactful presentations to business partners that will drive future strategies.
  • Document the requirements and scope for analytics projects and build a project plan to deliver them independently.
  • Work closely with partner teams to support the various strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and develop the right set of metrics, analytics methodology, and report/presentation to communicate actionable insights.
  • Work with the internal business intelligence team to create automated scorecards/dashboards to support campaign measurement
  • Proactively manage issues and project risks.
  • Bring a consulting, solution, and servicing mindset to our business partners.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling demonstrated through work or military experience; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling

Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • 8+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools
  • 4+ years of experience with analytical methods used in statistical analysis, modeling, and reporting
  • 4+ years of marketing analytics experience
  • Outstanding problem solving skills
  • Banking finance experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of data organizing or structuring complex data across varied data sources
  • Ability to translate and summarize complex data into understandable, actionable information and recommendations

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Analytical experience with the ability to pull and synthesize information and data from multiple sources to develop an analytic data set in order to fuel robust analyses including actionable recommendations.
  • Experience in working with designs of experiment and testing methodology within a marketing context
  • Consultative experience with the ability to identify and understand the problem, design a solution, gain buy-in and consensus on the approach, gather necessary resources to complete the assignment, and communicate results in a timely way to our partners and peer groups.
  • Familiarity with statistical and predictive modeling techniques such as machine learning, decision trees, data reduction, clustering, and regression
  • Working knowledge of Wells Fargo databases.
