The Pioneer Design System Studio in the Digital Solutions for Business organization in Wells Fargo Commercial Banking is seeking a mid-senior-level Product Designer with outstanding focus on human-centered design.

The Pioneer Design System offers design foundations, a catalog in code, toolkits, guidelines, and abundant documentation to help designers, developers, testers, and product teams successfully adopt Pioneer. We have over 60 applications already using the design system and anticipate strong growth in the months and years ahead. We release every 2 weeks, come rain or shine. Pioneer is funded by the organization and has major executive support!

Our Studio is a blend of traditional UX disciplines (interaction design, visual design, content design, accessibility consultants, prototyping, and design ops) and brand experience experts, and together we define experiences, support, and maintain Pioneer.

Pioneer Product Designers must be highly collaborative and organized. We partner with colleagues in Design, User Research and Insights, Content Strategy, Accessible Design, Digital Channels, Product Management, Technology, and QA on a daily basis.

We seek an accomplished individual with 6+ years of interaction and visual design experience in the design and delivery of transactional, B2B, web-based applications, plus additional experience contributing to or using a shared design system.

This role requires strong design craft, leadership, and communication skills, capability to manage multiple project assignments, familiarity with complex applications in a multi-product enterprise setting, and strong attention to detail. We would prefer to have strong interaction design skills with solid, supporting visual design skills.

As a Product Designer for Pioneer, you will divide your time across designing and documenting new features and components, collaborating with partners, and supporting the adoption of the Pioneer Design System across applications and major initiatives in the Commercial Bank.

This is a hands-on role reporting to the head of the Design System Studio, with potential for growth and further refinement to your particular talents and interests, as well. Roughly 50-60 percent of your time will be devoted to hands-on discovery, design, and documentation work, with the balance applied to communications, training, and research activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively discover user experience needs and tasks across multiple applications and workflows
  • Translate requirements into intuitive, responsive, and accessible desktop-focused and touch-friendly interface components for the Pioneer catalog
  • Develop process flows, wire frames, click-throughs, or low-fidelity prototypes
  • Create and deliver final specifications based on a synthesis of user needs, technical restrictions and requirements and business goals/needs
  • Evangelize for Design System best practices across the DS4B design studios and adopting application teams
  • Contribute to and support evolution of standards and guidelines
  • Participate in the development and support of additional design system communications vehicles
  • Validate that delivered code matches specified and intended on-screen experiences

Salary range is determined by the location of the job.
The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
CA-SF-Financial District: Min: $109,200 Mid: $156,000 Max: $202,800
MN-Minneapolis: Min: $91,000 Mid: $130,000 Max: $169,000

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: digital customer experience, digital product/program management, digital platforms, or digital consulting demonstrated through work or military experience

Other Desired Qualifications

  • 6+ years of interaction design and visual design experience with ability to showcase major contributions to application interfaces and/or design systems
  • Responsive design experience for desktop, tablet, and smartphone for customer-facing applications
  • Expertise in craft tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, InVision, Confluence, JIRA, and Microsoft Office
  • Clear, concise oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Prior experience as a contributor to (or consumer of) an enterprise-level design system
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organization, prioritization, and analytical skills
  • Detailed knowledge of accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.0+), human-centered design methodologies, and user experience best practices
  • Experience working with large, cross-functional design and development teams, and Agile
  • Experience using front-end UI component libraries, including a functional familiarity with HTML and CSS
  • Expertise in information design and architecture
  • Experience applying standards and branding
  • Prior experience in financial services, in-house design groups, and large organizations
  • Bachelor of Arts or college-degree equivalent
