The Director of Software Testing will be a part of Abbott Diabetes Care’s Cloud Solutions organization, supporting software verification by leading teams of test engineers responsible for test protocol development, manual and automated execution, and verification.

You will work with your colleagues in Software Engineering, Product Management, and other departments to drive testing organizational activities such as feature-based testing strategies, iteration planning, agile test development and execution, acceptance testing, performance testing, end-to-end system testing, logging defects, generating verification plans and outputs, and providing recommendations on build readiness.

Skills Include:

  • Technical leader and model of testing best practices

  • Well organized, detail oriented, with demonstrated ability to coordinate testing activities across multiple software testing teams

  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment with geographically dispersed and remote resources

  • Relentless focus on and passion for product quality

  • Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking, presentation, and communication skills

  • Able to create logical, well-structured test designs

  • Creativity in test design and finding bugs

Education and Experience You’ll Bring


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related discipline with 8 or more years of related work experience

  • Automated UI and API Testing experience

  • Experience with Agile software development and testing methodologies

  • Experience testing on Windows, Linux, Apple, and mobile phone platforms

  • Experience building high-performing software testing teams, defining strategies and methodologies for accomplishing testing objectives, and supporting the development and delivery of quality software solutions using manual and automated approaches


  • Ideally 10+ years of experience in software testing

  • Experience testing software for medical devices or in a regulated industry (e.g. FDA, Aerospace, Defense) strongly preferred

  • Comfortable with software test management software (e.g. qTest) and work management software (JIRA).

  • Experience testing distributed, cloud-based software, including translation and localization.
