Lead Experience Designer for Small Business

As the leading commercial bank, Small Businesses are mission critical to our mission. The charter of the Small Business design team is to investigate, create, and share experiences that drive great value for our Small Business clients and deepen their relationship with Bank of America. It’s a think/make environment, driven to answer the why and how customers experience products or services. Working with business and technology partners, Small Business XD team will use design and prototyping to guide early product/service development, bring greater clarity to engineering goals, and develop an XD-grounded point of view.

As a Lead Experience Designer you will

  • Be a player/coach, leading projects end to end, producing work and guiding the team along the way to produce great work that delights clients and achieves business goals.
  • Proactively seek out strategic partnerships across organizations at every level, build strong relationships with product, technology and business associates.
  • Help define product strategy, work with designers and engineers to plan and design new features, and own the overall quality of what is shipped.
  • Evangelize and evolve our XD practice, culture and craft, lead design meetings and activitely participate in critiques.
  • Advocate for Design Systems, mentor other designers on how to properly use it, while simultaneously thinking beyond one design solution and one technical platform, seeking reusability where efficiency matters and variability when differentiation drives value

You’re a person who has (required skills)

  • 10+ years of well-rounded design experience 
  • An outstanding portfolio that exemplifies excellence 
  • Strong experience building multiple UX component and asset libraries for cross-team use
  • Strong project and team leadership experience with a track record of inspiring your team to deliver world-class solutions
  • Expertise in designing for mobile applications, responsive web, and other digital interfaces
  • Mastery of Axure, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote, and other design and management tools 
  • Mastery of design systems infrastructure and tools that enable operational excellence
  • Experience creating, implementing, and managing design systems (human interface and style guidelines)

And you are a person who:

  • Thinks beyond one design solution and one technical platform, seeking smart reusability and variability
  • Is an enthusiastic, highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and an intense focus on achieving results
  • Collaborates and builds trust with design, product, and tech partners
  • Proactively seeks out strategic partnerships across organizations at every level
  • Actively participates in design meetings and critiques, ensuring adherence to standards while keeping an eye out for improvements or reasonable exceptions
  • Owns your schedule and delivers on time 
  • Embraces the opportunity to work in an office while collaborating with teammates and partners in other locations (not remote)
  • Is available to travel occasionally 

You’ll be better prepared if you have (desired skills)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in design or related discipline
  • Financial or similar industry experience 
  • Mastery of human-centered design methodologies and rapid ideation processes such as Lean XD and Design Sprints
