Qualifications:

Education: BS/BA degree with 3 years of industry or academia experience or a MS/ PhD degree in molecular biology, cellular biology or related field What We are Looking for: Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline with a least 3+ years of experience in industry or academia laboratory setting Extensive wet-lab experience using routine molecular, cellular, and genetic tools Primary required skills: cell culture, plate-based viability assays/ ELISA, qPCR, western-blotting Highly motivated and strong team player with a high degree of independence Highly capable with Windows, Excel, and a graphing software solution such as Prism, GraphPad Excellent time management and organizational skills Strong communication skills, both written and oral Nice to have experience with in vivo animal handling, tissue collection (if not, desire to learn in vivo skills)

Responsibilities:

The Cardiometabolic Disease therapeutic area at Merck is seeking a highly motivated In Vitro Scientist to execute and maintain in vitro molecular and cellular studies in support of our early stage programs (100% laboratory based). You will be working directly with experienced scientists driving the discovery, characterization, and development of our therapeutic programs. The primary function of this role is to leverage use of in vitro technologies to validate targets/ pathways by reference molecules and/or viral transduction (knock-down or overexpression). You are operationally minded, able to run multiple projects in parallel, and willing to do what it takes to the team and project forward. A successful candidate will have prior hands-on experience with in vitro techniques, including cell culture, qPCR, western-blotting, ELISA, and immunofluorescence. A successful candidate will be comfortable work collaboratively across various projects and teams to meet milestones. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Utilize genetic and/or pharmacological approaches to define target biology Collaborate with research teams on relevant in vitro assays (qPCR, western-blotting, flow cytometry, ELISA, IHC, etc) Perform sample preparation for in vitro assays Design and develop assays by collaborating with team Adhering to SOPs to ensure study integrity and quality Maintain accurate experiment records in various internal databases and perform basic data analysis Communicate with peers and supervisors and foster teamwork Contribute to collaborative efforts Strong commitment to quality and reproducibility Other duties as assigned
