Advantage Resourcing is seeking a talented and passionate Staff Scientist for our client in South San Francisco, CA. Do you have what it takes?

Position Summary:
The Staff Scientist will be an active member of the R&D team with the ability to contribute to multiple R&D projects simultaneously. This is a hands-on scientist role with mentoring responsibilities leading from the bench. This individual must be a self-starter and be highly motivated. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in launching products and ability to drive technical projects forward for NPI, and sustaining projects. They will provide subject matter expertise and mentor junior scientists. He/She must possess knowledge of design control to ensure that products, processes, and/or procedures are rapidly developed, meeting customer expectations and high quality standards. He/She will execute experiments systematically and maintain documentation include data traceability such that quality products can be made in accordance with the agreed timelines. They will actively contribute to feasibility, optimization, development and V&V activities in an R&D environment launching products with a purpose to grow our business. This role may collaborate with product transfer scientists across sites and also work with external collaborators.

Key Responsibilities:
Play an active role in executing experiments to drive NPI and sustaining projects. Must possess ability to analyze data and present them in a format that drives the progress of the project maintaining the highest product quality in mind.

Using knowledge of design control, this individual will contribute to PCP deliverables at various checkpoints, SOPs, Risk assessment and traceability matrix.

Maintain regular communication and participate in core teams and work closely with product transfer, Manufacturing, quality, product management and program management.

Contribute towards fostering innovative ideas and embrace the culture of developing products with a purpose. Anticipate key raw material sourcing requirements, considering lead times that may impact project timelines.

Work with a sense of urgency and manage risks when planning experiments.

Mentor junior scientists.

Frequent Contacts:
Communicates daily with:

• R&D, Program Management, Product Management, Quality, and occasionally with Field Applications colleagues and external collaborators.

Minimum Experience/Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in life sciences with 3-5+ years of relevant post-graduate experience, or a MS with 6+ years, Postdoctoral and/or prior industry experience is preferred.

• Broad-based knowledge of qPCR, NGS, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry/Bioanalytical methods. Experience in product development, data-analysis, design of experiments or analytical development/testing techniques is required.

• Self-starter, mature, independent, and dependable. Must be data-driven and results oriented, and exhibit ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to multi-task

• Experience using data analysis tools, as well as MS Office/Project packages

• Must take active interest in problem-solving

• Effective in time management and prioritization skills with attention to detail

• High degree of interpersonal and organizational skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at different sites

• Prior experience in mentoring junior scientists is a plus.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in product development and/or sustaining projects following design control

• Prior experience in mentoring junior scientists is a plus.
