MTC, in coordination with Caltrans, the California Highway Patrol, the Bay Area transit agencies, and other stakeholders, has partnered on projects to improve regional transportation system management and mobility. The 511 Traveler Information program, managed by MTC, encompasses several key components, systems and projects that support the day-to-day collection and dissemination of traveler information with the goal of assisting travelers with travel decisions and providing connections to several regional transportation programs. The 511 Transit Data Coordinator position will be filled at the Associate level and will be under the general direction of the 511 Principal Technology Manager. The 511 Transit Data Coordinator will serve as a core member of the 511 Traveler Information group in MTCrsquos Technology Services section coordinating all activities related to the regional 511 transit data services under the supervision of the Principal Program Coordinator. The 511 Transit Data Coordinator will be expected to work independently with data producers and consumers to ensure uninterrupted collection and delivery of 511 Transit data. The position will manage and guide contractors in the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of all 511 Transit system components including data collection tools, backend data processing system, and data dissemination APIs. The position will serve as the technical expert for the 511 Transit system and will provide technical support to all stakeholders of the 511 Transit system including transit operators and external data consumers. The 511 Transit Data Coordinator will perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned to the Technology Services Section. All employees at MTC are classified as Disaster Services Workers. SKILLS AND ABILITIES The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities Project management techniques to ensure timely delivery of multiple concurrent projects, including change control, budgeting, contract management, and scheduling. Expert user of office productivity software similar to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project. Knowledge of scope of work, budget, and schedule development for system enhancement activities. Knowledge of contract management, contractor oversight, and invoice review and processing. In depth knowledge of transit data and related open-source data specifications such as GTFS and GTFS-Realtime. Knowledge of systems engineering process and documentation. Basic understanding of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Demonstrated skills in stakeholder relationship development and coordination. Excellent skills in oral and written communication. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS An appropriate combination of education and experience that has provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is Education A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate discipline related to the area of assignment such as transportation planning, project management, public finance, transportation engineering, economics, business or public administration. A Master's degree in one of these disciplines is desirable. Experience Two years of increasingly responsible experience in an appropriate field related to the area of assignment.
