Description
(SENIOR) PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST, TRANSLATIONAL AND SYSTEMS PHARMACOLOGY MODELING & SIMULATION
Oversee, lead, and review efforts to develop and apply PKPD and QSP models in various therapeutic areas including immune & inflammatory disease, oncology, and other disease areas. The work can entail modeling of complex disease, cellular dynamics, intracellular signaling pathways, drug PK-PD relationships, and novel therapeutic approaches including new protein formats and delivery routes, cell therapy, and gene therapy.
Strategize, plan, execute, and report QSP and PKPD modeling activities, and present work at cross-functional teams, department meetings, senior management review committees, regulatory interactions, and scientific conferences
Depending on candidate qualifications, serve as dedicated personnel manager to scientists, interns,
contractors within the group
Work in close partnership with other scientists in Modeling and Simulation, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Science, Informatics, Biostatistics, Preclinical and Translational PK, DMPK, Safety Assessment, Biomarker, Diagnostics, Regulatory, and other functions.
Explore, develop, and advance innovative methodologies and best practices in preclinical, translational and systems modeling including incorporation of novel data and analytics approaches such as machine learning, causal inference
Adapt and thrive in an interactive, team-oriented culture.
Qualifications
Ph.D in: chemical, biomedical, or other relevant engineering fields, pharmaceutical sciences, applied mathematics, or related disciplines.
Typical post-PhD experience requirements are:
Principal Scientist, ~7-12 years; Sr. Principal Scientist, ~12+ years. Proficiency with PKPD and systems modeling approaches such as differential equations, logic, stochastic, agent-based, and/or other advanced mechanistic modeling approaches is essential, as is experience with relevant software or programming languages (e.g., Simbiology, MATLAB, R, or C)
Experience with other M&S and analytics approaches (e.g., statistics, statistical pharmacometrics, machine learning/artificial intelligence, systems biology/bioinformatics) is beneficial
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and effectively on cross-functional teams.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence project team collaborators.
Established leadership in the field including strong track record of scientific publications and presentations
Personnel management experience preferred
