At Maxar, our next generation spacecraft range from Earth observation to interplanetary missions, including NASA's Artemis Program Lunar Gateway Power and Propulsion Element (PPE). We are looking for an experienced Sr. Avionics Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing Avionics Team. This position provides an opportunity to bring your Electronics Manufacturing Engineering expertise to a fast-paced, iterative electronics product development effort. This role will be based either in Palo Alto, CA or Westminster, CO. In this role, you will act as the owner of all the manufacturing aspects of an avionics suite for a variety of mission profiles (LEO, GEO, MEO). In this position, you will be collaborating closely with our hardware, firmware and test engineers and you will be responsible for all Design for Manufacturing, Materials Process development and coordination with our strategic contract manufacturers to build and scale the production of the avionics units. You will need to understand our hardware engineers designs and collaborate with them on finding technical solutions that meet the schedule and cost needs of our programs. Competent electrical and mechanical engineering decision-making skills are fundamental for this position, as well as a breadth of technical knowledge to understand the underlying issues and mitigate potential risks before they are realized. Responsibilities Responsible for the manufacturing process development of avionics assemblies for space infrastructure products Reviews electrical and mechanical designs and provides effective DfX (Manufacturing, Test, Cost, Quality, etc) inputs in early design stages Determines the sequence of operations necessary to fabricate electronic assemblies, equipment Develops manufacturing documentation (Work Instructions, BOM, Build Reports, PFMEAs, etc) Works with internal and external production teams to follow the manufacturing of the units Resolves Non-Conformances during production, effectively understanding root causes for failures and leading Corrective and Preventive Action efforts Leads the efforts to scale production improving processes reducing cycle time, cost, schedule Minimum Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of overall related professional experience 5 years in an electronics manufacturing engineering role Knowledge of Printed Circuit Card and Electronics Assembly processes preferred Knowledge of ERP systems and QMS Preferred Qualifications Experience in the aerospace industry in a manufacturing engineering role The Compensation range for this position in Colorado is 101,000 to 169,000 annually and is dependent on location, skills, and experience. This position is also eligible for a bonequitycommission plan.
