Job Description

Transportation Specialist will design, implement, and oversee Exelixis’ comprehensive commute and mobility programs. This position will implement processes to ensure cross functional transparency within the team and with other internal stakeholders to lead and manage day-to-day Transportation Demand Management (TDM) operations.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish policies and procedures for various forms of transportation (campus and commuter shuttles, rideshare programs, public transit services, active transportation, employee engagement, and air quality compliance, among others).
  • Produces and edits moderately complex to complex correspondence, documents and reports using a variety of programs, tools, and applications.
  • Manages all trip reduction compliance reporting, engages with various departments to obtain, and analyze data.
  • Develop innovative technology and programs that promote the reduction of single occupancy vehicles and traffic congestion with a focus on employee experience and engagement.
  • Understand Exelixis’ s short and long-term real estate and headcount growth, anticipate transportation needs, capacity, and make recommendations to avoid potential negative impacts to business progression.
  • Provide oversight for marketing and communications, active vendor management, and manage internal/external business partner relationships.
  • Parking, shuttle, rideshare (carpool, vanpool, etc.) and bike program operations, including all safety oversight.
  • Ensure lawful compliance to transportation and air quality law and site-level hazard analysis.
  • Build consensus across a diverse range of stakeholders driving complex, cross-functional programs forward in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees and managers to take desired action.
  • Develop and maintain annual budget and manage service levels accordingly.
  • Meet and engage with new staff, develop written procedures internal partners, and people.
  • Able to assess circumstances, empathize and provide solution-based options while maintaining a professional relationship.
  • Make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, leaders and/or public groups.
  • Solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations sometimes requiring high level analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Must work well under pressure with multiple deadlines and demonstrate a proactive approach to routine and non-routine occurrences.
  • Participates in safety and emergency team programs.
  • Assists with planning and execution of events.
  • Complies with all company health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • BS/BA degree in a related discipline and three years of related experience; or,
  • MS/MA degree in a related discipline and one year of related experience; or,
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Experience in a program management role, preferably with commute/mobility planning, TDM or other relevant transportation experience.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong computer skills including well-developed knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet research capabilities.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize time sensitive tasks and display effective, independent project management skills.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • Enthusiastic about providing the best possible customer service and interest in sustainable transportation.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Strong program and project skills.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to understand labor markets and tailor transportation options to fit needs.
  • Self-directed, analytical, and collaborative with a demonstrated ability to work with, and lead, cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, respect and confidentiality; is approachable and interacts professionally; builds business relationships based on mutual respect.
  • Works efficiently, responds promptly, and possesses excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

  • Environment: primarily working indoors in an office environment
  • Essential physical requirements, standing, stooping, or typing
  • Physical effort/lifting, light - up to 20 pounds
  • Travel up to 5% of time.
